Gaston Leroux's classic tale of tragedy, grand opera, romance and horror has been masterfully adapted by Ken Hill into a musical play, which preserves all of the excitement and passion of the much-loved original, underscored by a strong current of comedy as well.
Ken Hill (January 28th, 1937 - January 23rd, 1995) was a British playwright and theatre director. His ground breaking musical “The Phantom of the opera” (first played in 1976) has been played in UK and US tour and revivals around the world. In 1991, it was nominated for two of the most prestigious Olivier Awards for Best New Musical and Best Director of a Musical. In Japan, it has been produced since 1992 and brought more than 25 million audiences.
